Hi!

I'm really new to biking but it's been a bug that bit me and boy did it bite me hard, haha!
Sometimes, if I see a nice bike parked there all sexy, my hands get itchy to touch it. I'm really excited and I can't wait to learn more about bikes!

I've read the threads for beginners and I like the Ninja 250 which I've read are commonly recommended as a starter bike. However, I'm 5'1 and I weigh 100 lbs. and so I wonder if there are any suggestions you guys can give me on if there are any better bikes out there for my weight/height? Or just any advice you can give so I can prevent from .. just getting smushed? Thanks!

at 5'1, you'll have a problem on a standard bike and even more on sportbikes and dirtbikes.

try checking out the cruiser bikes, their seat heights are not high.

oh and welcome and good luck.

make sure to get professional training like the MSF.

You may want to look at cruisers because of your height (no offense). The Ninja 250 has a seat height about 29.5 inches and at 5' 1" you'll be stretching to just tip toe the bike.

There are ways to lower the seat heights of bikes so if you really want a bike, don't be discouraged at first. Do some research and maybe you'll be able to fit the bike to you. For your first bike though I do suggest that you get one that you can flat foot.

Welcome to the board carrieme. Two suggestion come to mind right off the bat. 1) take the MSF class as suggested it'll give you a good idea of what you can handle, even see if it's something you think you can handle 2) Visit some dealerships and sit on bikes, get a feel for thier height, weight and balance. Aftre that you'll have a better idea of what might suite you. Good luck!

Welcome, its a bug you will never really get rid of. Remember to be extra diligent when it comes to safety because cars tend to ignore most bikes.

As for a ride, I think Honda makes a custom called a rebel 250. It is a good bike to learn on and I am sure you will fit on it very nicely.

Good luck.

Thank you for all your suggestions! I really appreciate them. =) Yeah, I'm definitely looking into classes to try out how bikes feel. Hope to learn more from you guys! Take care!
