Was at a dealer yesterday recieved a written quote for a new 06 V Strom 1000 out the door price of $5200 with the trade in of my 05 M50. This V Strom was dark gray in color, not the light power blue. They are giving me $4500 trade in price. They are not giving me any discount off the MSRP of the V Strom, but they did increase the trade in price. I told them reduce the price to $4800 OTD and I will buy it, they said thats the best they can do and they are giving me a discount by giving me more for my trade in. My M50 has 7K miles, dented mufflers, but new tires, crash bars, saddlebags and bars. Question? Is this a good deal? Take that deal or take that quote to another dealer?

can i ask what made you decide on the 1000 instead of the 650? consider yourself lucky on that quote. here in NY, $600 is around what i pay for my vstrom 650! the dl1000 was way too much to insure for my tastes

btw, the dl 1000 of this year has the nicer colors. the powder blue and normal red is for the 650, the 1000 got a really nice candy red and a really nice gray

The 650 V Strom is too slow and I don't like the rattling engine noises it makes, to me the 1000 is a much better sounding engine.

WHAT!!!???

even w/ my previous gixxer1000 i was only paying $900/yr. $1900/yr together w/ my previous car.

now, im paying $1600/yr for both my gixxer750 and my mazda MX-6.

and i could have gotten it at a cheaper rate if i didn't get a ticket last november '05.

im w/ AAA.

who are you w/ and what's your age and driving record?

:(

22 years old without a blemish on my record. No accidents, no tickets, nothing.

Thats Geico, the others were no better if not worse.

Could be that Rhode Island has mandatory insurance laws and we're just getting gouged.

could be, i don't know about other states, but in wisconsin, once you hit 25, your insurance rates drop like a rock.

I thought that Suzuki makes crap-"O Ring" bikes. Why are you looking at another one?
