standard or cruiser suggestions for first bike

#1 Unread post by millerhd »

I am looking for a standard or cruiser type bike. I am 6'2" and 165 lbs. I am on a very tight budget so I need a bike for at most 1,500. any suggestions welcome. thanks.

For that price range, you're really looking for a bike that runs well and fits your long frame. There's some great deals out on both types of bikes and you're going to have to dig to find one that runs well and fits. I would start looking at the $2,000 range and haggle your way down to $1500. If you don't find anyone willing to do that, work your way down the asking price.

A lot of sellers will put $1500 looking to get $1200 or less. If your budget is limited, you'll want a bike that runs well instead of a bike that looks pretty and sapping you for repairs. You won't get the prettiest bikes for $1500, but you'll definitely find one that runs well. Personally, I'd go with an older bike that's been recently driven vs. a later model that's been sitting in a shed.

Good luck with your search.
