got a nail in the back tire, how much does that usually cost to fix?

how much does a new tire cost?
A lot of shops won't fix tires that have been punctured. It's a liability issue for them.
You'd be better off just getting a new tire.

i dont really know how much a new one is, this one only has like 700 miles on it so it would suck if i had to buy a new one

it would suck more if you crashed bec of being cheap on tires.

if they tell me i need a new one the bike will just have to sit awhile because i dont have the money to be buying tires already. I didnt think i would have to get a new tire before i made my 3rd payment.

Depends on the shop. Most won't fix it, as stated. You can get a tire patch kit and try it yourself. Or just let the bike sit. My opinion is that you should just buy a new tire.

This is definately my advice as well. Get a new tire before you ride again. Or enter the sites tire contest and cross your fingers.

i would recommend a new tire as well, and have in the past....but you could patch it as has been said, also the placement of the puncture and the size of the hole it leaves might make patching it more/less reliable
since it's a brand new bike, maybe your dealer will have some heart and cut you a deal on a new tire or send it back to the manufacturer as a defect or something

Also check the tire manufactures warrenty. I found that on my tires there was a short window where they covered for punctures and damage under a certain milage.

thanks for all the help guys, i did get a buddy of mine that knows alot about bikes to patch it. The nail was almost in the center of the tire and wasn't that big. I called the shop where i bought the bike and they wouldnt cut me a deal or anything on a new tire. I have to ride about 5 miles round trip to work, but i plan on getting a new tire next week.
