Because I wear a helmet?

Odd experience tonight...

I'm kicked back relaxing and getting ready to watch some fireworks at the local venue when a group of sport bikes pull up and park. All 3 guys on their Ninja's (yes, actual ninjas) were wearing a jacket to match the paint job and a backwards hat, each bike was also decorated with an attractive blonde...fairly common sight in a college town. The kids walk past me and one looks at my helmet sitting on the ground and says "you wear a helmet in town...that's pretty g*y." and walks off.

I've been riding for several years now and I can honestly say that was a first for me. I was stunned that a kid just made fun of me for protecting myself. I'm still a little set back at that whole deal. Oh well...one of these days I'm sure I'll be happy I have it...and one of these he'll wish he did.

Helmets are a lot like condoms...it's better to have one and not need it, than need one and not have it.

He's probably not had a getoff yet. Then again, maybe he did have a brain injury, judging from his remark :frusty:
I've had my brain injury in a head-on with a dirt bike WITH a top of the line helmet on. Without it I wouldn't be telling this tale  A good helmet and my .45 are like the American Express card...I don't leave home without it(them).

I personally dont wear a hard hat, but I can't see the benefit in mocking someone who chooses to. I mean that would be like you making fun of his incredibly small....and other issues which cause his insecurities.

Don't let it bother you...some people get off on trying to get others off so don't be suckered in

Ride your own ride and do what feels right for you! 8)

That's just plain ignorant. But people like that usually remove themselves from the gene pool sooner or later anyway, so at least you won't have to hear him say it again.

If you have something worth protecting, you'll protect it.

No wonder he's wearing a ballcap.

It didn't bother me at all, I always wear my gear. My life, my choices. Just strange how some people think. I guess for that guy, a bike is more about being cool than anything else. I'm happy to know I've passed that phase.

You should have just said "Yeah, I keep it so I can PUMMEL ASSHATS LIKE YOU DO DEATH WITH IT!" then start beating him to death with it.

Sorry... I'm still worked up from the Pride fights the other night.
