If you like the Fantasy genre then try out 'A Game of Thrones' by George RR Martin.

I'm reading it right now and am only 100 pages into it (out of 800 or so) and loving it thus far.

it's a 4 book series right now, with the 5th one coming out shortly(hahahahaah). It just keeps getting better.

If you like that one pick up, "The Darkness that Comes Before," "Warrior-Prophet," and "The Thousandfold Thought" by Scott R Bakker. It puts George to shame in a big way.

Have you read the Jack Ryan series from Tom Clancy? They include Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Red Rabbit, Rainbow 6 etc. Some of them were great movies, but the book is always better.

Michael Crichton has some good older books. I recently read "State of Fear" and thought it was pretty good (Global warming story line)

If you like Demons, check out Jeff Long's "The Descent"

Kite Runner is a great book (historical fiction)

Da Vinci code if you haven't read it

Where the Red Fern Grows if you want to cry like a little baby...

An excellent book I just finished - See No Evil: The True Story of a Ground Soldier in the CIA's War on Terrorism -- by Robert Baer

Why not try some Nonfiction for a change? For example, If you liked Dan Brown, (DaVinci, not Angels, though its all the same stuff) why not get a book on the Real knights templar, or the other subjects in the book ... Some of the best i've read are -

The Templars: The Dramatic History of the Knights Templar, the Most Powerful Military Order of the Crusades by Piers Paul Read

Holy Blood, Holy Grail by Michael Baigent

Dungeon, Fire and Sword: The Knights Templar in the Crusades
by John J. Robinson

(Read books written BEFORE Dan Brown's nonsense, so it's not some fluff written by some dork trying to cash in on the craze)

Right now I'm reading A History of Venice -- by John Julius Norwich
If you like Politics, great book which goes through 1,200 years of Venice's existance as an Independant republic.
