I made a squidly mistake.
So there I was riding down the highway and the engine started sputtering. I reached down and and tried to find the fuel switch. And low and behold I could not find it. So in a matter of seconds the engine stalled while I was doing 60. To get out of the situation I just pulled into the devolpment that was right off of the road and found the switch. I got the fuel switched over to reserve but it would not stay running when I went to take off. It turnes out that I was three gears high. The bad part about it all was it took me four or five tries to figure that out.

LOL. was that on Aya or Aya Mk II LOLVermilionX wrote:that's not squidly to me. more like a newbie mistake.
squidly is doing 143mph on a freeway and letting the speed go up that high before letting reason kick in and ease off the throttle.
I have done the on ramp oops before but only to the tune of about 100 or so (even my lowly 600 bandit can hit 80mph 1/4 way down an on ramp).

it was Aya mkII... i've only pushed Aya around 110mph, didn't get the chance to push it harder.jmillheiser wrote:LOL. was that on Aya or Aya Mk II LOLVermilionX wrote:that's not squidly to me. more like a newbie mistake.

also, regarding easing off the throttle... i can't believe how fast my speed dropped when i eased off. i was down to 80+mph in a short time w/o braking.

several things can affect mpg like...jmillheiser wrote:the GS should do more than 150mi per tank. it has a huge tank.
my bandit can do 150mi per tank riding in town and almost 200mi per tank on the highway, and my tank holds about a gallon less than yours
- riding style, if you like running at higher rpms, less mpg.
- throttle control smoothness, the smoother you are, the more mpg you'll get.
- stop and go frequencies.
