Signal lights? Can I go to larger bulbs?

I drive to work in the dark and because I need and have a fairing, I can not put a light bar on. Considering I drive 60 miles on the 5 in SoCal, I would like to figure a way to be better seen (I have the fluorescent stripes already). The thought occurred of increasing the size (wattage) of my signal bulbs. Has anybody done this?
I can’t imagine it would put strain on my electrical system compared to a light bar.
Any ideas techies?

Likely your blinker housings are designed for a certain watt bulb. More watt=more heat, might do long-term damage to the housing. Wire may be too thin to handle a larger current, will overheat could short it out. Fuse might not handle the current, may have to buy a bigger fuse.

LEDs aren't always much brighter... you must shop around and find LED lamps that are actually as bright as standard bulbs. However, when you find them they are a very good option because they draw less current and don't melt anything.

Yup, LED lights are not always brighter than stock bulbs.
Have you switched to synthetic signal fluid?
