Chitkul, Last indian himalayan village towards Tibet.

This plan for this trip was originally not mine. Hitanshu, a friend and another enthusiast biker thought up this place. I have never met hitanshu or knew much about him, we had been chatting from some time and wanted to do a trip together. With hitanshu and me getting into new roles at work from next month, this was the ideal time to go. And what better than taking a 1200 km ride to Chuitkul, which stands in the valley surrounded by Kinner Kailash himalayan range and is the last indian village on old hindustan - tibet trade road. I dont know whether it is possible to describe this trip in words or not but none the less the shot has been taken.
Here's some bare details of our ride.
Place : Chitkul, 15 crowfly kms from Indo-Tibet border.
Located in : Sangla Valley, Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh. (Known as valley of the fruits)
Distance : 600 kms from New Delhi.
Bikes : Energy FX (110 CC with 9.3 BHP) and Bajaj Caliber (100CC with 7.3 Bhp)

Me, riding in the the kinner kailash himalayas.

My friend in front of a 300MW Dam based on River Baspa. Those tiny looking trucks are full size 18 wheelers. We actually crossed the dam beneath the water flowing above our heads.

Me in front Sangla Valley.

And of course the icy cold water crossings.

It took around Rs. 1700 including fuel, food and accomodation. Which is about US$38. For a 3 day trip to heaven, that aint bad.
All i can say is this is one place, i would never ever forgot. The tryst with higher himalayas has just started.
With love, from india.
