Creepy Story

I was browsing through a MO and found this diary of a girl and her motorcycle going through Chernobyl.

Just looking at the pics has an eerie feel to it. And I thought riding in dense fog on an unfamiliar road scared the poo outta me.

Trippy!! We had this link on the forums a while back - before our big site crash. It was debated back then whether or not her story was factual. Then the web link didn't work anymore. Weird.
I don't care if her story is factual or not - I imagine that it is, and I love all the pics that she included. It was such a sad event for so many people. And so many people were neglected by their government.

I don't want to sound like toughshit but I, for some reason, would like to experience that ride through such a desolate area... the creepier the better. I find things that are dangerous or freaky to be, well... fun.

Almost as creepy as Chernobyl - take a ride through the neighborhoods in Detroit. Now there's some excitement. Wild dogs roaming the open, burnt out lots - no street lights in a lot of neighborhoods - the roads are all chewed up. When we used to live there, the rule of thumb was, no cop - no stop (as if there's any cops nearby anyway). This went for just about any intersection - day or night - cage or bike. There's just too much vulnerability to be hanging around.
I agree though - there's something about physical presence. When you can touch history, it seems more real - more intense. And Chernobyl was one of humankind's worst tragedies.

So strange, I must admit history never really appeals to me. But theres just something about this that just simply stuns you.
I too would love to ride that way, I know it sounds odd, but just to hear total silence would be awe inspiring

That really sunk in with me. Thanks for such an interesting read! I read the whole thing from start to finish and it really was fascinating.

Good looking girl... she rides and she had the ZX-11 erebuilt to her specs... I like! 
On a more serious note there was a documentary screenede here about a group of scientist who have been living in the basements at Chernobyl since the disaster with no serious side effects yet.
Some of the data gathered has been odd leading to specualtion that there are two types of alpha radiation and the Hiroshima/Nagasaki (our only real long term study into long term larage scale radiation effects) bombs only carried one.

check out the ride stories from some of our members in India in the ride stories forum. They have been to some seriously out of the way places. Hows the Himalayas sound for out of the way

as for danger factor I believe there is a tidbit about having to swerve around a leopard in the road in the middle of the night and then lowsiding less than 100 meters away from the leopard
