Need a little advice on where to look for intermittent problem with no start. Bike floods out. Usually bike will start with one stab of the starter but this is the 3rd time in month that out of the blue that it would not start.
I have fuel but apear to have no spark. If coil was problem then would this not be a constent problem and not intermittent?
Any help would be appreciated

My '84 700SC had a no-start issue once and I found that the glass fuse under the handlebar center cap had aged and broke. Once I replaced it everything was fine again. Not likely your problem but an easy check.

not sure if this was what ZooTech was talking about, but my 82 Yamaha would have that type of issue when my main fuse would have poor contact. The starter wouldn't even work when that was an issue, though...so i don't think that is your problem, but i thought maybe it might help. that could be an issue that would just happen on and off, though. good luck

sometimes on my 1985 Nighthawk 650, the ignition pops out from underneight its housing. Seems like my battery is dead and nothing starts up.
I have to manually pop it back and then all is well.

Thanks for the suggestions.I think I have it narrowed down to the ignition module or crank pick up.Any suggestions on how to test these as module is very expensive $500+ cdn. new and half that used.

No way to test the Box. You pretty much have to test everything else and verify good before you replace the TPI Box.

A common problem is the pick-up coil. If I remember, I can try and get you some specs. I guess that is what you meant by crank pick up.
