Sometimes I have laugh to keep from crying. We all do stupid things, but this one takes the cake for me. I was changing oil in my XS650 and I dumped 2 quarts of 20w-50w oil into my bike only to discover I forgot to put the drain plugs back in.

So come on, fes up guys, I bet you did something stupid too that would get a chuckle. XS

last oil change i grabbed the wrong torx head bit (one smaller) when removing my derby cover from the primary....stripped a torx screw pretty badly...
it is only laughable because io managed to get it out without resorting to removing the entire primary and drilling. needless to say i boght new screws.

Took the swingarm off my bike for maintenance a couple weeks ago, and took the chain off as well so I could give it a good cleaning and inspection.
Got everything done, slapped the swingarm back in, slid the bolts home, put the nuts on, and started adjusting the torque wrench.......
then I realized I had forgotten to do one very important thing.
looked over at my cleaning tray to see my chain still soaking in cleaner.
so, off comes the swingarm again so that I can get the now clean chain back on.
Doh!!

I managed to adjust my chain and forgot to reinstall the cotter pin on the axle's castle nut. About 100 miles later, the axle fell out while I was riding down a deserted highway. Doh!

I did an oil change last week and asked my family to save an empty milk jug to put the oil in so i could take it somewhere. So my brother puts the jug aside and a few days later i go to use it come to find out there is still a 1/2 cup of milk in there. I almost died from the smell.

No hurt and no damage. The chain started jumping teeth on the sprocket at about 60 mph. I looked back and saw 6 inches of axle sticking out the left side of the wheel. I got slowed down to about 35 mph when the axle fell out and the chain kinked, locking the rear wheel. I skidded to a stop, retrieved and reinstalled the axle, then secured it with a bungee hook for the last 250 miles home. I was amazed that I made it.

Got on my bike last week and found my handlebars missing. I freaked out at first, but then I just turned myself around and there they were.
