Fork Seals Hard or Easy? (noob)

I just took my bike in for an inspection and the guy said that my front fork seal is leaking. I just got a Clymer manual to reference, but it is at my parent's house, where the bike is in the shop. So I can't look at it to find out how involved changing a fork seal will be until the weekend. Should I tell the mechanic to go ahead and fix it? Or is it easy enough to do by myself? How much should it cost?
Thanks in advance for your help.

got me an old 85 honda nighthawk 650 and mine are leaking.
Looked at the Clymer's book, and i get the idea, but there are a few tool that i need. I would say that its not too hard to do it yourself, but i decided to take it to a pro- Just as a reference, Both forks/install new gastkets and seals and such- $165, parts, another $70- a little expensive.
A way to save some cash is to take the forks off yourself. Might save $50 or so.....
I've been told not to let the fork oil issue go and really get it taken care of as soon as you can.
good luck!

I got my seals/dust wipers for about 70$...
i expect it to take about...4...4.5 hours. Id rather get greasy and get fammiliar with my bike than spend oodles on a shop.
