Hey there from Colorado! I am new to bikes although my father and grandfather had some it has been years since i was blazin the mountain side with them a top a Honda Trail90

I am still trying to figure out what will be the best ride for me, the front runners right now are the Victory Vegas, Vegas Jackpot, or Hammer (over the Harley Duece or Fatboy)

I havent gone to the riders school yet but will, i visited the dealer and sat on the bikes a couple times, havent taken them for a test drive (not sure they will even let me)

all advice welcome! mainly around the comfort and control of the bikes with the wider VS narrower front and rear tires...

good to be here gang!!! 8)

Hmm... after reading the post "Why a 600cc Sportbike is not a good Beginner Bike" i am seriously wondering if I have chosen poorly for the bike to consider... maybe that is way to much bike for me right now... but yes, i feel like a lot of of those comments

i do want to look cool on a cool bike
i dont want to buy a bike thats not the bike i REALLY want

but the article makes sense and i will take it to heart. the reason i came to these forums is to learn and i figure the folks here (at least many) probably know what they are talking about.

first off :welcome:

second, yeah, the victory's are nice, but i'm not so sure they'd be a great beginner bike. 100ci and a lot of hp can get you into trouble in a hurry. if you're sold on an american bike, you can't go wrong with a 883 Sportster for a beginner. a lot of bang for the buck, and the resale value won't kill you when you trade it in for your brand new dream bike in a year or two.
