Oil changes

#1 Unread post by whozyomama »

Hey everyone -- I was wondering....

I changed the oil in my bike last year, rode about 10 x (maybe about 100 km total) Then I put it in the garage for the winter.

Do I have to change all the oil before I try and start it?

Thanks.....

Oil change

When storing for winter oil should be changed before so as to remove contaminates (certainly would not hurt to change-falls under the category of severe usage), then you don't have to worry in spring when you pull your bike out. Hope you drained the carbs and kept the battery charged or you could be looking at spending more money.

Cheers

You should change the oil before you start riding again and what Honda 599 said is true. During the riding season I change my oil every 3000km to 5000km. That is regardless of what oil I use. I do the same in the car.

Oil OK

I always change the oil in my bikes at the end of the season before putting them a way for winter that way when spring comes it's turn key ready to ride (after doing a safety check)

Just remember to add oil before putting it a way so you wont forget in the spring. A problem I'm going through right now.

as for riding only 10 miles or so I wouldn't worry it should be good to go.
