im going to research honda first but where can i get piston rings and valves and other such items for a cb 550 f ?

Aftermarket companies tend to produce products for the 'latest and greatest' machines.... Honda may be your only option. However, there are some outfits who make specialized parts for some bikes. Finding them can be a bit of a trick, though. Vintage racer forums, collector-type sites or such may be able to set you onto a source for aftermarket stuff. You can give that a try. Good Luck.
