Where should I get my key copied?

My (used) bike only came with one key. Does anyone know a good place to get a copy of a motorcycle key? I was thinking of stopping by Lowe's/Home Depot, but I saw a mention that a locksmith would be a better choice. Anyone have any experience with either?

I also have the serial number, so in the worst case, I could go to the dealer and ask them to get Kawasaki to make me an original (albeit it'd be more expensive).

Lowes/Home Depot won't be able to do it, they couldn't do my keys anyways. Take it to a local motorcycle shop, they'll have the correct blanks. Locksmith may have it too.

locksmith will charge maybe 3 bucks to do it, that's where i went with the keys for the 97 ninja.

one thing with new keys is that sometimes they take a little work to fit right since they are so new and sharp, if the old key/ignition/lock combination is a little worn it might make you play with it a bit to get it done...best advice is to take the bike with you when you get the key cut that way you can try it out right away

A locksmith will have the proper blanks, and will probably do a better job cutting and finishing the key. It's worth the extra dollar.

I just went to a locksmith down the street when I got my bike... two copies cost me $4 even.
