On 3/20/05, I had an accident on my Shadow 1100. Old guy pulled a farmer right on me. When he hit the brakes and crossed the center line, I figured he was turning left... he wasn't.

I got a little banged up, bike got about 800 banged up... fork tubes, left fork leg, pegmount, shifter assy, bars, grip, and windshield. Also had to weld up a hole in the crankcase cover.

Well, being the optimistic type, I really needed to do a few things, that I wasn't going to down a running bike to do. I will be mounting the non-dented tank, the hardbags, longer fork tubes, and the windshield I really wanted, but wouldn't spend the money on when my old one was good.

For fork tubes, I have a set of V65 Forks that I was going to mount on a special gold Wing project... turns out that they not only fit, but they also give me about 3" of lift, and add an air adjustable fork. The hard bags are from an 80 vintage yamaha, probably an XS-1100. I will be shooting them black and running them for now, but over next winter, I plan to cover them with vinyl, and add studs.

So, everything is working out. I have been waiting for this fork leg for 2 weeks, and there was no work around, so I was glad to see it arrive.

a.k.a. a "trucker right", that's where they hit the breaks and swing across the centerline like they are turning left, then they turn right. There is a degree of justification for this when pulling a long trailer, like an 18-wheeler, but this guy was in a reg F-150 pickup.

I am sorry to hear about your accident but I am glad to hear that everyone is okay. The bike is a little damaged here & there but I'm sure you will have it fixed in no time. Then you can be back on the road again!
