The GSX-R750 should be ILLEGAL

Seriously, what the hell is a bike like this doing in a showroom where regular people like me can just walk in with good credit and buy one? Why aren’t they asking me for my pro racing card, or at least some of my past trophies? Do they want me to kill myself or something?
I just can’t wrap my mind around how fast this little frickin’ rocket is. These things should require a special license. I can go faster in first gear than is legal on any road in Canada, and then there are FIVE GEARS LEFT. WTF!
I mean I love my bike, it rides like a dream, and it looks damn great if I do say so myself, but who the hell am I kidding? I read articles about guys test riding this bike, and “bouncing it off the rev limiter”. Excuse me?! I was out yesterday and stuck behind a couple of cages on a lonely road just out of town. We come around a corner and since I was in a relaxed mood I just hung back waiting for the guy in the sporty red car in front of me to pass the slow dude out front. Instead he waves me around, probably figuring that the RACER on the GSX-R7freakin50 is probably going to want to warp himself up the road. So I think what the hell, thanks man, I’ll just “bounce it off the rev limiter” here, since the engine is nicely broken in at 3000km.
Anyway, a few blinks and a few seconds later, after the tach needle had bounced itself off the 15,000rpm redline, I casually notice that I’m hurtling towards an untimely death at a hair under 190km/hr. “Hmmm” I think to myself, as I do a quadruple shift up to 6th, unclench my sphincter, and coast back to a reasonable 140, “that was quick.”
Of course I’m not 100% serious, but it’s sure made me think. I can’t imagine EVER needing or wanting more power than this unless I really got into racing. The fact that parents are buying 16 year olds bikes like this scares me. It’s lunacy. No wonder almost every insurance company I called had this bike on their restricted list. State Farm has some real balls insuring me for $60 a month!
Anyway, no real point to this thread other than comment on how insanely fast the sportbikes today are. I almost wish I’d just got the 600; I’m sure it’s not much slower. It would probably be better for me if it were.
My term life insurance policy is up this year. Excuse me while I go circle the date in red marker. Oh yeah, and new riding pants next week.
