The wave

I don't know about you guys, but I love doing that half assed wave bikers give to each other. Or at least a nod if I can't take my hand off the clutch or I'm turning. But sometimes I feel like the dude I'm waving to doesn't feel the same.

Do any of you guys get pissed off when you see another biker wave to you, sorta like "ah man, now I have to wave back or I look like an a-hole!" Or do you, like myself, enjoy extending a friendly hand toward fellow bikers?

i consider anyone on two wheels a friend by default, so when i drop my left arm it is genuine. some people wont wave, dont take it personally.

i feel bad when i don't see the biker right away and i miss the chance to wave back.

on the other hand, i don't feel bad when i don't get a return wave.

If I don't get the wave back I quickly turn around and chase the other rider down, screaming at the top of my lungs "all I ever wanted was a wave!"

Ok, so maybe not. Every once in a while if I'm in a tighter turn I won't return a wave (simply because I'm still a newer rider and havn't hit that comfort level yet) but usually I'll give one. And almost all of the riders here in AL return (those that I've met thus far at least).

I generally won't wave to someone who isn't in proper gear or driving eratically. They already have enough missing between the ears that taking their hand off could certainly result in death.

i like waving! it makes me feel special and all warm and fuzzy inside

on mountain/twisty rides if i see other groups of bikers in gear then it's almost a given to wave to each other. also usually if my group leader and their group leader wave to each other, everyone following along behind on both sides keep the hand out til the whole train is past :)

i dont really wave to squids/riders in tshirt/shorts though..i dont like to consider them as riders who are out riding for the same purpose i am, and therefore i dont feel as much comraderie..

how bout like those old 40-50 year old couples wearing tshirt/shorts on their harleys and cruisers? do you wave to them? lol

I wave to whomever pretty much. Doesn't really matter to me if someone 'chooses' not to gear up. Simply by virtue of 'being' on a bike it's safe to assume they've willingly accepted the risks of riding. Unfortunately it's easy to infer that such lack of concern for a rider's own personal safety may perhaps extend to a disregard for the safety of others.

Why would not wearing gear not make you part of the "club." If it has two wheels, it doesn't take much to give a friendly wave.

I've been unable to wave back or sometimes don't see the other rider, so I dont' sweat it if I don't get a wave back.
