O.K., here's the deal.

I met an old dude at work about a month ago. Old? He's 76.... and still workin' :? ...Anyways.... he recongnized me as the guy on the FJ in the parking lot and asked if I knew anything about his Kawi KZ 440 tranny that was buggered...... we got to talkin' and it comes to light that this guy has a 1/4 mile flat track on his land that has been idle for a few years and he was in the process of working it back to racing grade. Course, I'm all over that, so after further yappin', he mentions he has a few old track bikes at home, plus a few other street machines, mostly old BSA's and Triumphs, he's pretty active in the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group.... I says cool.... more bike talk and off we go to work again.....

Fast forward to today. I bump into Old Fred again. He asks if I'm coming to his track this weekend. Sure, what's going on? I ask.

Seems the C.V.M.G.(but all bikes welcome) is having a
Vintage Ride-in/First-Run-On-The-Rebuilt-Track Day on Sunday. One member is bring a selection of track bikes, and I was promised a shot on the track on one of these bikes.... ... but I'll believe that when I see it  ....

Which brings up the reason for this little ramble.... Old Fred is a nice old dude, but he has a reputation around town and the local racing associations as something of ...uummm, odd fellow. Some say downright stubborn bastid.... some say worse.... so EXACTLY WHAT form this event will take is anybodies guess. It could be a well run, highly structured deal, or it could be a drunken biker party, or anything in between. I'm guessing someplace in between....

The track is the old Tailwind Raceway, just outside of Mirror. So it's real handy for me and Gadjet or anyone else in the Red Deer area. It's not all that far from Edmonton either, if any of the Capital Crew is interested. There will be some very cool old bikes there if nothing else, and I have a faint hope of lapping a flat tracker, so I'm going 8) ...

If anyone else wants to check it out, let me know and we can see about getting something half organized to head out there.

Hey Buzzz, I'd like to come down for a bit and check that out, though I probably won't be able to stay for very long. I have my 79 suzuki that I can bring out. It's not really what I consider "vintage" but it is old... What time is this thing starting? I'll be coming from calgary, but I gotta head to medicine hat either sunday evening or early monday morning, so I'm not gonna stay late.

Year or make of bike don't matter, or even 2 or 4 wheels, everyone is welcome. I was thinking of showing up just before noon, but that's negotiable. Check your P.M....

That would be Extreme Raceways. I've been out there a couple times on my KLR. The gravel leading to the track isn't too bad, and it's only about 3km.
