UK riders, help

#1 Unread post by zenedge »

Hi All,

I have a weird question for you all. Has anybody ever encountered a trailer for a motorbike?

I ask because i fly R/C aircraft, and joked in another thread about combining the two and going to the flying field with my model on the bike, but it's now got into my head and i'm wondering if it would actually be possible.

My model is around 7' nose to tail, maybe around 90cms wide at the wheels and the wings detatch from the model for transportation. The whole thing weighs no more than say 20 Kgs so weight isn't an issue.

I know that cargo trailers are available for gold wings and harleys and the like, but would something like this be out of the question for my lil ol' XJ600??? And how would the law in UK accomodate a home made arrangement for this set up, since i doubt i'd be able to buy either the towbar OR the trailer 'off the shelf'?

Cheers,

Zen

Heya, I'm unaware of any SVA inspection practices for trailers, but I could be wrong. The DVLA (or whatever they're called now) should be able to fill you in. I know a full unrestricted motorcycle license entitles you to tow a trailer no wider than 1 metre.

If that helps any
