just got a very strange phone call

i just got a call on my phone, from a number that i dont know. and it sounded like a woman being beaten and stuff... im totally serious this wasnt a tv or anything like that it sounded real.
id hear a struggling sound and then hitting sounds followed by whimpering sounds from a woman. i herd a guys voice but couldnt make out what he was saying, the woman id hear off and on what i think was stop, no stop, help. but very faint not screaming. and every time i herd the hitting sound a dog would bark alot.
im worried this is for real, what if someone broke into a womans house and she managed to try and call someone and got my number before something happend to the phone.... i did phone 911 and told them, the operator seemd really concernd so... i hope its no thing though
makes me wonder though if phones should have an auto accept feature. like in this situation the police can call the phone and obviously if she is in trouble she cant get the phone, however if it auto answers the police can at least hear what is going on and decide what to do from there. obviously it would lead to a privacy invasion, but if it was easy to turn off/on i think it would be a good feature to have. add that to cell phones being tracable makes it very usefull.
