Hey guys
Wondering who here has been to/regularly goes to a bike week and what you think about it. Also wondering what you guys have out west or in Canada, as I know about Laconia, Sturgis and Daytona but are there any big ones on the west coast?

I've been to Myrtle Beach twice. Myrtle Beach was a good time - not extremely exciting. Checked out a lot of bike shows, a lot of walking in the hot sun at the vendor lots, saw OCC at one of the clubs, went to a few biker bars (loved Suck, Bang Blow, hated Broken Spoke but Billy Lane was there marketing his company), went to a few strip clubs.
What exactly are you looking for?
I'm going to Biketoberfest this year? It's my first time in Daytona for Bike Week. Any comments, feedback, things to do, etc.?

Haven't been to Laconia but I understand it's like a campground set-up with a lot of HD's. I hear it's a lot of fun.

I was at Laconia this year. It was fun.. I didn't have a bike then, but my gf's family are a bunch of bikers. She's been going for a long time. I can't wait to actually ride up next year.

i personally don't like huge crowds anymore so bike rallys aren't really for me. If i were to go to anything like that, i think it would be just part of a bigger trip. roll in, check it out, ride another 100 miles or so that night.
who knows, i might love em, but i would have to have a bit of a trial run before i did something like plan a full vacation week at a rally

try Myrtle Beach. It's only crowded on the streets, the biker bars and the lots with the bike shows and vendors. Plenty to do other than "biker" stuff. I thought it would be CRAZY but it wasn't.

yeah, see i could do a day like that. pop down to Raleigh, rent a place at something like Topsail Island with some buddies and then it's only like a hundred miles or something...not sure what the roads are like, but could be worth thinking about.

Here in Canada we have SportBike West. It takes place in Oliver, British Columbia typically at the end of August, and focuses mostly on sport bikes but there are always a few cruisers. I went last year and it was fun, but the best part was the roads in the BC interior and they're there all year round! A group of us were going to go to Oliver earlier in the summer to ride the roads without having all the egos (you know what I mean!) that tend to show up at these things, but it didn't work out for us. The only bad think is that there's usually a few fatalities every year because people ride outside their limits to impress others, or they drink and ride.

Kinda takes the fun out of it for the rest of us.

Yeh.
This year had that accident with the SUV rolling over like 4-5 bikes around Laconia when one of the bikes drifted into his lane.
