Well I have put 150 miles on it since Tuesday and only filled it 1x (yesterday cause I bought it with only about 1/4 of a tank in it lol). Today I had to ride in torrential rains so I slowed down to 45 instead of 55 and pulled over whenever I had an opportunity to allow cars behind me to pass. The jacket helmet and gloves kept my upper boday nice and dry but my blue jeans and boots (actually they are my old boots) were soaked so I think I am going to have to get some rain pants and waterproof boots. I actually had fun riding in the rain even though I slowed down.
*edit this was taken by my father at his house. He used to ride Harleys about 30 years ago and is thinking of getting back into riding and I think this bike is making him think more so of it . Oh and I screwed up the img tags so fixed those.
Nice bike Looks like you're off to a fun start. Ihear ya about riding in the rain. Our first long ride, DH and I got caught in storm the 2nd half of the ride. Our torsos and heads were dry, but everything below the waist was soaked! bbrrrrrrr
I think some rain over pants would be a good investment....and ome better waterresistant/proof boots.
Big Gratz on the new bike. Looks really nice... I havent had the chance to ride in the rain since our first day of BRC. As soon as we got on the bikes it came a deluge for a good 1/2 hour, but the instructors said, "If you can ride in the rain, you can most definitely ride when its dry"...lol.
Just messing with ya! Yeah it took one time riding in the rain for me to invest in some waterproof boots and riding pants. I've got the Sidi Sympatex boots and they're the only "waterproof" boots to survive 24 hours of submersion and still be dry.
The pants, are Tourmaster Jean Pants. They say they're water proof, but they are more like water resistant. They did fine for about 15 minutes and then the rain trickled into my crotch.

I always follow the rules.
The only exception to the rule occurs when I make an exception to the rule not to make an exception to the rule and that only occurs under exceptional circumstances.
hehe I enjoy every second of riding. I wanted to ride it to work but my riding gear is still wet with the exception of my helmet and jacket.
I should say today every biker I saw waved at me and I waved back. I did not find it difficult at all to let go of the left handle bar and wave back. Then again I was doing 45mph when I waved back lol.
what I am now nervous about is I am becoming more fearless when riding. meaning I am becoming more confident. even during the rain I had no problems doing 45 as I felt like I was in control. I probably could have tried faster but I didnt want to feel out of control. I am glad I did because I did come upon a section where I slowed down to 25 because there was about 8" of water on the road. people behind me were prob pissed but there was no way I was pulling over to let them pass while I sat in 8" of water. went through it with no issues.
Everything looks great! Have fun...enjoy your ride!
Riding in the rain is a lot fun especially when you are waterproofed and visibility is still good. I had my last rain ride about a week and a half ago in a torrential thundershower (excellent light show!) and since then, it's been disgustingly hot here.
Ya right, there are only 2 kinds of bikes: It's a Ninja... look that one's a Harley... oh there's a Ninja... Harley...Ninja...
