i'm new to the forums, i'm not sure how
they work

I think the primary purpose here is to advertise his business.
We're getting a load of these types on our forum every day with links to medicines, popcorn, etc.
Keeps one busy deleting urls, user names, and accounts.
Maybe a :notify moderator" link on each topic or post would be a good idea so users can take action easily.

Don't hold your breath waiting for any kind of response from him. His only purpose is as I said above. We get from two to as many as five of these new Members every day just to show their links or web sites, most of which are from Russia or France and some do not even post...just showing up in the new members list.

I know what you mean, I delete every "new spam member" and their posts within minutes of them posting. You would think they wouldn't waste their "time" with active forums at all.
