I am frustrated due to the fact that I can't figure out how to drain bad gas. Sounds simple enough. Tried the two hoses near the shut off valve, but no gas came out. I think it'd help to buy the service manual. Know where I can get one cheap? If you know of any laymen troubleshooting sites, let me know. Thanks

I'm not sure how to help you, with the exception of moving this to the "Trouble Shooting" forum. Someone there will help you much more quickly than here in Ladiesville.

Welcome aboard by the way. Make sure to introduce yourself in "Start Your Engines". Hope you enjoy the forums!

Oh, almost forgot - I visit near your area a few times each year - maybe we can do a ride sometime. Another lady rider (Kim) lives north of Ann Arbor. How cool is that?!

Cheers,
Loonette

If you have two hoses from the valve, you likely have a vacuum operated petcock. That means one of the hoses must have a vacuum applied to it (usually done by a running engine), so that gas will pour out of the other hose.

Many vacuum operated petcocks have a setting that will allow gas to flow without a vacuum being applied. Does your petcock have a setting that says "prime"? If so, that setting should allow fuel to flow even with the engine stopped.

You should be able to turn your petcock to prime and that should allow you yo drain the old gas
