Hi! I just bought a '97 Suzuki VS800GLV Intruder back in December with 14k on it. This is my first "big" bike purchase. I was previously riding a Piaggio LT150 but after 4 years it was time to move up - after first convincing my wife I would be a safe rider - and be safer when I ride on the freeway here in far Northern California. I'm 6'1 and the bike is a little cramped if riding it more than a few miles. Fortunately, it came with a foot bar - not a crash bar - mounted ahead of the pipes. I can rest my legs easily on the pegs and it's a much more comfortable ride.
It also came with twin rigid leather saddle bags and a small windscreen! I use it mostly to get to work, a ride of about 13 miles RT and ride it into town for appointments - about 10 miles one way. I intend to take it on longer rides up to 100 miles once I get more used to it. The only issue with this bike is the small fuel tank. I'm going to bring a container with about 1/2 gallon gas so I can really see how far I can go on the main tank and reserve. That being said, there's nothing wrong with fueling every 90 - 100 miles and I need a stretch anyway!
