Do cops tend to ride more?

When I was at a local Suzuki/Kawi/Yamaha shop, two patrol cars pulled right up and came on in. I thought there was a problem, but they just came to look at bikes! I asked the sales guy if this was normal, and he said he has a lot of police come in to buy bikes, mostly sportbikes. Are there officers on the forum that can verify/debunk this urban myth, or anyone who rides with a lot of policemen/women?

On the weekends I work with 14 Deputies....out of those 14, 4 of them are Motors (bikes).....a total of 6 of them have bikes...some cruisers some sportbikes.

I've noticed that a bit, could be because it's a high stress job and they ride to relax. My husband is an ex cop.

In a pretty small unit of 12 guys, 4 of us have motorcycles. I commute everyday in NYC on mine.

a majority of the officers in my town ride, the local blue knights chapter is huge.

I do notice cops are more interested then most in talking about bikes. If I stop and a cop is around they will often engage me in friendly conversation. One time this guy was telling me how cool he thought it was I was helping to save gas. I didn't have the heart to tell him if I wasn't riding a bike, I wouldn't be wasting the gas.

i work for north charleston police department, have you guys ever heard of the blue knights ?? very large biker policemen group, let me see if i can find like an offical link about it, but they are across the country at various departments. when i get my bike soon, i will be joining them here at my department. yeah!

Let's see in the department that I'm on which is about 35 ish

I ride
3 other officers ride
1 Sgt. Rides
1 Capt. Rides
1 Dispatcher rides
1 Records person rides
and several of our non sworn personel ride.
