Waves Hello from the gulf coast

#1 Unread post by Chromie »

Hello!
Just saying hello to all of you. I'm JoJo. I live in the panhandle of FL and I'm looking at a 01 Yamaha V Star Custom 1100 right now. It's being offered to me at a good price, and I'm ready to get back in the saddle after selling my old bike a year ago. I'm going stark raving mad without a bike!

Anyone here familiar with this bike? Any opinions good or bad are welcome.

Welcome aboard JoJo. We were just on vacation in the panhandle. Pensacola Beach to be exact. Have some friends that live in Pensacola proper and had a great time.

Anywho, the VStar 1100 are nice bikes. I don't own one but have heard good things about them. The only issue I've ever heard is having to relocate the oil filter because if you don't you have to remove the exhaust or soemthing to get to it to change it. But most owners add that kit straight away from what I hear.
A dog had his chain reduced one link at a time, every few days, until his chain was so short he could barely move. He never resisted because he was conditioned to the loss of his freedom slowly, over time. Are we in this country becoming like the dog?

Welcome to the board. Yes, the VStar is a nice bike. I had a 2001 1100 Classic. Until it met an unfortunate fate. The front end of a Mercedez.

As mentioned the only pain in the opps was the oil filter. If there is a kit to relocate it. I would suggest in getting that.

Have fun with it. Ride safe.

Cheers!

Thanks to everyone who replied, and gave advice as well. I will get the relocator kit if it is not on there. I appreciate the heads up!
I'm not just pretty baggage, I ride my own!

Welcome to the board Chromie. You've got a nice bike there, a friend of mine has one and had been very happy with it.
