Had the crap scared out of me.

So today was the first time I took a passenger out on the bike. I know that she has been on bikes before so I thought she knew what she was doing. She told me that she has never been on the back of a sportbike before. I said it was not that much different than a cruiser except it is alittle more touchy to weight transfers.

So we start off down the road and she is doing ok. I was m aking sure that I was really smoothe with the control inputs. I never did feel her hit the back of my head. Any way it was time to turn around. While we were slowing down I reminded her to look over my shoulder in the turn. We started the turn just fine then about half way through it I feel her shift her weight against the lean. I thought I was going to loose it. I put more of my weight to the inside to counter hers. When we stopped I reminded her again not to shift or we will go down. To make a longer story short we pulled back into the driveway and she did it again. This time I had to catch the bike with my foot to keep it from falling over.

Is there anything I can do to keep the bike from acting weird when that happens? And what can I do to prevent that from happening again. I gave her the full breifing before we left. I need some help. I have a few girls that want to ride. But now I am scared to take anybody else.

You're on a 500cc sportbike, so weight shifts are that much more effective at upsetting the chassis. You're gonna have to lecture each one as to what can happen if they don't listen, and that it's in their best interest to overcome their natural instinct to remain perpendicular to the street.

Remind them, very sternly and seriously, what they need to do in the turn.

Emphasize they look over your inside shoulder.

They may have been surprised how far into the turn they had to lean at speed. When I'm pillion with DH some curves or turns catch me offguard and still get a warm rise out of me. Of course, he went hot into the turn so a little speed control would have fixed that...but :?

I said that she needed to look over my shoulder in the direction that I am turning. But I guess she just did not get it. :frusty:

Now wait a min here. If you had some smoking hott girls come up to you and ask for a ride, and you had your seat on. I think you would give them a ride. The one that I gave a ride even had her own helmet in her car.

that's a sure way to avoid being tempted to give a hot chic a ride.

Allright you got me on that one. I just want it to be known that I am not using the bike to pick up girls. It just kind of happens.

I've had girls ask for rides on my bandit before. I just tell em that they have to ok it with my wife first LOL (my wife would kill me if I ever took another girl as a passenger on my bike).

I wouldv'e taken my passeger pegs off already if they were removeable, unfortunately 1st gen bandit passenger pegs are part of the frame and not removeable.
