Two brothers die in separate accidents: Same night, same road

BUTLER, Pa. (AP) - Two brothers were killed in separate motorcycle accidents on the same stretch of road and within just two hours of each other. One was headed to the scene of his brother's accident.

Steven Kerr, 37, of West Sunbury, was killed late Saturday when his motorcycle crashed into a speed limit sign on state Route 38, state police said.

Less than two hours later and only about 100 yards away, 29-year-old Jeremy Kerr was fatally injured when his motorcycle crashed into the rear of a vehicle stopped in traffic on Route 38, police said.

Jeremy Kerr, of Hilliards, was speeding as he headed for the scene of his brother's accident, and traffic was stopped because emergency crews were still at the scene, officers said.

The occupants of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Butler is about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Riding while stressed out seems to work for me. I think since I only concentrate on riding it helps me not concentrate on what is bothering me. I guess everyone is different though.

Riding to remove normal stress is encouraged..that's the primary reason I ride..to RELAX.

However, hopping on a bike after an event (argument, bad news, etc..)that has your emotions and adrenaline at their peak can take off the edge you have to ride safely. Esp your skills at being aware of your surroundings.

Remembered this from the MSF class and thought the news , although a tragedy, was an appropriate example to reference. Maybe reading this will keep someone off their bike someday when they shouldn't get on.

Ride safe ALL the time.

You should not operate ANY motor vehicle when you are emotionally distressed. Thats not a rule exclusive to motorcycles.

I tend to enjoy riding after something stressful has happened to make me upset....my mind wanders from the stress at home to the surroundings on the street. But thats just me.
