Is it mandatory to do valve adjustments at a 1000 km service or would it be more beneficial to wait till the 6000 km service?

Your probably only sposed to check the valve clearance at 1000km, just to be sure everything is copasetic and right from the factory. An 'ease your mind' sorta thing.....

My son-in-law rides a 1200 Bandit, it now has 8,000 miles with never a valve adjustment. It is quiet as a mouse with no ticks or rattles. The Suzi mechanic checked it out and said don't adjust them unless you hear a tick. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

1000Km is really early. I wouldnt think anyone would want to pay for that and it should be set correctly from the factory. Service intervals should be in your service manual. Ussually bikes now have shim over/under bucket types. As time wears on the valve beats its way into the seat. Moving up and tightning the clearance between the bucket/shim and the rocker arm. Ussually they get tighter. Need room for heat expansion. Not a lot of beating in only 1K driven.

My engine seems to rattle alot once it gets warmed up. I'm assuming this is because of the valves? My bike just hit 1000miles though...

My VFR just hit 25,000 miles. I should at least check the valves soon....
A guy I know got his VFR up to 96,000 miles and never had to adjust his valves!!! (they were always in spec when he checked them every 20k miles) That is some crazy stuff right there.

I had a KZ750 like that. I finally sold it at around 67K miles. I'd checked the clearance 6 or 7 times over its life (bought it new) and it never needed any adjustment or made any noise. Must've been built on a Wednesday.
