counter-intuitive list

let's make a list of things that are counter-intuitive when riding...

1. when the rear slides, don't let go of the throttle. keep your maintenance throttle.

2. tankslappers, don't fight it. let the bike correct itself.

3. avoid being bolted on to the bike. stay loose on the bike, it's much more stable than you think it is. being loose will also give you better feedback.

what are other counter-intuitive reactions in riding?

A Mazda can pull a motorcycle on a small trailer.

CHAR'S REVENGE!

*ducks*

When some people actually try to think about it they find counter-steering counter-intuitive.

But that's only because they're trying to think...

Counter-intuitive?

I dunno. That depends on who's doing the intuiting. All 3 of those things seem natural to me.....
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

In a turn, don't look at the obstacle if there is one, look at the area you want to go to get away.

If you know/think a driver sees you, assume they don't.

Hmmm, pushing out on the right handlebar will make you turn right while at speed.

Hanging off the bike doesn't make you turn better...
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
