Helmet hair

#1 Unread post by MrGromit »

I can't be the only commuter here who actually cares what his hair looks like at work.

Is there a trick to keep the hair from getting fried while wearing a helmet?

Depends on what your hair is like to begin with.

Si has a grade 2 all over, so no worries there. 'mortis has medium length hair and uses a thin balacava.

I've got long hair and use a neck 'tector to tuck my hair safely out of the way. When I to work I take off the 'tector shake my head and I'm good to go.

I just cut mine really short.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I just learn to live with it. My hair has a mind of its own most of the time anyway

I,too, have learned to live with helmet hair. However, sometimes I wet it down and fluff it back up and it's not too bad.
A bandana over your head before you put your helmet on helps a little bit.

There is also some kind of helmet liner available that is supposed to be quite helpful.

Maybe don't worry about it? It could look better than you think. Or just get a short cut or wear a bandana.

I keep my Alpinestars hat under the seat. When I get off the hat comes on.

You can always experiment with a razor blade and shaving cream.

heh, a #2 cut doesn't get too bothered by helmet hair in DHs case. Military doesn't care as long as its in regs.

As for my hair, I've given in to the fasct if I ride, my hair gets messy. A quick run to the ladies room, scrunches with water and a quick fluff and its good to go until the helmet goes on again.
