can't remember to cancel turn signals. tips?

I've had my bike for a week now. When doing quick lane changes I have no problem remembering to cancel my turn signal. But when making a turn at an intersection, where the blinker is on for 10 seconds or more, it just slips my mind. Too many other things to worry about. Usually half a mile later I notice that it's still on. Seems like a great way to get killed (cages think I'm turning, so they pull out in front of me). Hopefully my next bike will have self-cancelling turn signals. Anyone got a handy trick for remembering to turn the dang things off?

Well my dad has a beep, kinda like a reverse beep on a cage, not as loud but loud enough to hear with a helmet on. It worked for me when I was riding his bike.

keep your thumb on the turn signal until you start to turn. as soon as you start turn it off :D.

just get in the habit of doing something that causes you turn them off (keeping ur thumb over the switch during the turn or looking down at your lights) and eventually youll just do it subconsciously. My signals self cancel after 10 seconds, but i dont like to let them go that long, so i let the blinking light under my gauges remind me.

Wish I had some tips for ya, but I still do that too sometimes. It is really just getting into a habit of checking your signals I guess.

Actually it's worse on my Vulcan than on my old Zuk cause the instrument panel on the Vulcan is on the gas tank instead of on the bars like on the Zuk. I would notice it faster with the intruments up higher if I left the blinkers on. I've been working on pushing my signal button at regular intervals in case I forget to turn them off after turning.

My turn signal has a "Push to Cancel" feature so after every turn, I just remember to push it to turn it off. Sorry no real tip...

I have turn signal OCD and I always look down to see if my turn signal indicator light is blinking or not. :stickpoke:

for me when turning at low speeds, i cancel my signal when i shift up. it kind of becomes a habit where i release the clutch, hand goes back to the grip and the thumb cancels the signal. sometimes i find myself cancelling the signal when it's not going just because my brain goes, "oh hey, you shifted, time to cancel the signal"...sometimes you just forget though, but if you can make it a habit, the self cancelling ones will probably drive you mental if/when you get em hehe

I had that problem when i first got my bike. Every time I caught myself I thought of how dangerous it is that i forgot, and how all the cars behind me must think I'm a noob. Don't worry, after a while you will get used to turning it off.
