So I was talking to a girl that wants to get into riding. I have taken her on the back of my bike a few times and she loves it. She is looking to get her own bike. I recomended taking the MSF before she gets a bike just to make sure she still wants to ride her own. When a guy on a brand new CBR 600RR pulls in. Her and I walk over to check his bike out, and he joins in the recomending conversation. He told her that the MSF is a waste of time. If she knows how to ride on the back she will do fine without the corse. I was in too much shock to come off with a witty comment. I could not believe that he would say something so stupid. Just after he got done preaching safty to us. I dont understand people sometimes.

I never took msf course, and so far so good *knock on a wood". If she feels like going for a little gamble - uits her choice. It doesn't make her/him stupid by not taking a course. Just a little challenge.

But the comment about MSF is a waste of time- retardness. Its not a waste of time. Just different way of learning.

I would recommend the course to new and old riders alike. There has been a lot of changes in bike technology since I first started riding, (1971) and that can affect the way a bike is ridden. I personally think I would benefit greatly from taking a recent version of the course.

Why NOT take the course? It's only about $250 here. Even if you walk away with one or two new skills, then it's worth it. If you are willing to spend a few grand on a bike, there's no excuse not to take the course.

We had one kid not show up on the second day of riding. I figured he thought he was too good for this and he wasn't paying for it so why bother? (You don't get anything from taking the MSF course in SC other than knowledge and maybe an insurance discount).

Stupid rich bastrd, his daddy was/has going to buy/bought him a brand new motorcycle of his choice.

See that is the thing. The MSF is free here in Pa.
