Handlebar Weights?

Me and the bike fall down go boom.

Now I need new handlebars. Found a place on line with genuine parts.

Question is, what is the deal with the weights in the handlebar ends? I got them out okay and they seem fine. When I put everything back together, do I just stick them in the ends? Do they get adjusted for some reason?

I looked through the manual and there is no mention of these weights or what they are for.

Someone want to clue me in?

They help reduce the vibration in the bars. The bigger the weights, the less vibration (supposedly). Stock weights can be an absolute pain in the backside to get back in and secured properly so it may be worth getting an aftermarket set for the new bars.

I just did the same thing. Had to get new handlebars and invested in a set of new/aftermarket weights. They are pretty cheap (10 dollars) so it wasn't a big deal. They are very easy to install. Just insert the weight and tighten the screw to expand the rubber piece that is now inside the handlebar end. That's it. I don't know anything about stock weights, but the aftermarket ones are pretty easy.

Good luck.
