My husband and I bought our first bike this summer. He's ridden before and I haven't. Sound familiar? I'm taking a Motorcycle Safety Course starting this Thursday and am more than a little nervous. Hubby tried to give me a few lessons. The first was OK. The second I almost ran into a tree, got the bike stopped and fell over on the left side. The third, I tried to turn too tight and too slow and the bike slid out from under me. Hence the name Funny Bone 'cause that's what I landed on. So now the bike has matching scratches on the front fender and two brand new signal lights to replace the ones I broke. Any comments or suggestions will be gratefully accepted.

as for tips... im sure you'll get a lot from the safety course.

but for now... try to stay in empty parking lots and practice there... try to resist the urge to hit the streets if you can.

good luck!

Like others said, try and relax. The course will teach you all you need to get started. They're designed for people that have never been on a motorcycle. Honestly, I'd try and refrain from piloting until the course. Better to learn things at the course rather have to unlearn any bad habits or movements that your husband doesn't pick up on while instructing you. No offense intended!

Good Luck and Stay Safe Out There!
