Backfiring

Ive got a 78 Yamaha xs650 that has a back fire on one side. It usually happens when I let off the throttle, and before I break, when the engine is slowing down. Any suggestions.

Sounds like fuel is still entering one cylinder after releasing the throttle.

Time to have your carbs cleaned as well as synchronized.
