Kawasaki Vulcan VN750 - Good bike for TOTAL newbie?
I have a chance to get a 2001 Kawasaki VN750 for a good price...love the bike and looks of it...but have never ridden a motorcycle before. It is the style of bike I prefer. I have signed up for the motorcycle safety course in my state. Your thoughts about this bike for a newbie?...I realie i should wait until after the course, but the fact I can get this at a good price via frined of a friend makes the decision difficult

Vulcans are great bikes. Strong engines as Kawasaki is known for. I personally like the Vulcan 750 look. This is what a motorcycle should look like, but what do I know? I came of age in the late 60s and 70s when the Honda 750 Four was the hottest thing going. I dislike the current breed of "retro cruisers" with the heavy fenders, flat handlebars and tombstone tail lights. I perfer the laid back chopper style of the Vulcan 750 and the Honda Shadow Spirit, et al. Call me an 80"s dinosaur if you wish. The only word of caution I would give is that as long you feel like you can handle it. go for it, dude.

My first (and current) bike is a vulcan 800 classic. I think it is a great choice. It is very well balanced and very forgiving which is what a new rider really needs.
From previous posts I'm sure the 750 would be comperable to the 800, if not better (doesnt the 750 have a drive shaft?).
It's got plenty of power but not enough to get me into too much trouble.

Thats the same bike I'm looking for. It has the most modern features for the buck compared to any other bike near that same size.
Front disk brake, shaft drive, liquid cooled, 4 valves per cyclinder, tach plus other stuff. I will be buying one. The only question is used or new.
