How do I go about completely emptying the fuel tank on my bike? I've let it run out the reserve line until no more fuel was flowing out. There was still fuel in the tank, so I turned it upside down and got out what I could. There is a lip on the inside of the tank at the filler neck, so everything would not drain out. It sounds like there is dirt or debris inside the tank along with the remaining fuel, and I really don't want to run that through my newly rebuilt carbs. Do I need to remove the petcock to get everyhing? And if I do remove the petcock, is there a gasket that will need relacing?

remove the petcock, make sure you soak the screws with WD40 before hand, I had a "dog" of a time with my XS 400 (depends on the age of the bike I suppose)

As for gasket, if there is one, replace it, shouldnt be more then a couple bucks. or just be carefull when you take it off and you may be able to reuse (once more, depending if there is one or not..not sure)

Thanks Pete. I decided to say "screw it", Got to excited to actually have the thing back together. I'll clean it some other time.
