MISSION 4 PEACE - HIMALAYAN FANTASY

#1 Unread post by AdrenalineRider »

Introduction:

It is a landscape???
Is it sky???
what about shooting stars??
Silence is just silent....
Gompas...., .....Zen of life.......
All these things are like a dream for daily life commuters of India....everything makes Leh - Ladhak a place to visit as a challenge ...... Its not just a cold desert .....The truth is that its just a land that seldom fails to baffle surprises.
It is all a start of rugged landscape which is situated amidst multiple-hued mountains, some smooth enough to rub your cheeks on...and also would find rough terrain's ... with unexpected rains and Miles of stretches never ending rivers and deserted landscape....the True beauty of India....At times you will find little vibrant green hamlets oozing wild roses and lavender .... and fringe the life-giving Indus River.....Ladakh is a land like no other. Bounded by two of the world's mightiest mountain ranges, the Great Himalaya and the Karakoram, it lies athwart two other, the Ladakh ranges and the Zanskar valley......has one of the lowest population densities in the world and a landscape that has been described as a moonscape for its unearthly beauty.
While on road ... you will find huge water patches, watercrossings...and most of the times ... landslides which you can cross on two wheels....You need to know your two wheels before attempting to cross the land as its way too difficult for a rider who is not use to the ride he is on....Its home to Buddhist monasteries or Gompas...The craggy mountains of the Ladakh range and the Zanskar range change colour with the passing of the time through the day. Believed to be the home of spirits by the Buddhist population of Ladakh, the mountains form the backdrop of this ethereal landscape. With the mighty Indus river thundering through steep ravines, fearsome crags, boulders, glaciers and snow, a tour of Ladakh is no ordinary journey.
With sunny weather for over three hundred days in a year, Ladakh is an exotic destination to visit in the summer.

One of the highest-altitude desert, sheltered from the rain-bearing clouds of the Indian monsoon by the barrier of the Great Himalaya, Ladakh was once covered by an extensive lake system, the vestiges of which still exist on its south-east plateaux of Rupshu and Chushul, in the drainage basins or lakes of Tso-moriri, Tso-kar and Pangong-tso. But the main source of water is winter snowfall not the monsoon rains....

For the rest of the region, the snow on the peaks is virtually the only source of water. As the crops grow, the villagers pray not for rain, but for sun to melt the glaciers and liberate their water. Usually their prayers are answered, for the skies are clear and the sun shines for over 300 days in the year.

Dras, Zanskar and the Suru Valley on the Himalaya's northern flanks receive heavy snow in winter, this feeds the glaciers from which melt water, carried down by streams, irrigates the fields in summer. For the rest of the region, the snow on the peaks is virtually the only source of water. As the crops grow, the villagers pray not for rain, but for sun to melt the glaciers and liberate their water.

Leh, the capital of Ladakh is situated at a height of 3505 meters. Leh is a beautiful destination with so many attractions and is the centre of Tibeto-Buddhist Culture for ages. Its colourful gompas have attracted the devout Buddhists from all over the globe. Besides, it is also a favourite hiking locale and is known for some of the best hikes in the country.
Its not enough to describe the true beauty of the land that Ladakh offers.....

Biking the highest roads in the world

Soaring thousands of meters above the pollution, heat and chaos of India’s plains, the Himalayas stand a world apart from any other Indian territory. Prayer flags snap in the wind on high passes and villages lie marooned amongst spectacular mountain scenery, linked by kilometers of challenging roads that have only been open to foreigners since the 1980s
