Hey this post is for the riders 25 and under, just wondering what you guys are riding and what you are paying for insurance (state Cdn Or US). Apparently 25 is the breaking age for insurance companies when the prices drop a lot, so i just wanted to see a comparison between different bikes and ages under 25. Also if anyone is riding as a second rider with their bike under a parents name let me know how that is working out, as that is what i will do in atempt to save money

Well I just turned 26, but I got my bike when I was 25. Does that count? I'd like to be in the Not Old Fogey Category for as long as possible

1987 Honda Magna
$365 USD/Virginia/Yearly with a horrible driving record on my truck..

I guess insurance for bikes is not as bad as i ogriginaly thought...I`ve heard stories of people who were under 20 paying like $5000 a year and things like that, anyone ever hear of insurance amounts such as that, is that common or what?

It depends on what kind coverage you are getting, and what kind of bike you have.

My friend has a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 650R and he only got liability and is paying less than 300 a year.

I'm 25 and planning to get my first bike soon and have been looking into what certain bikes would cost me to insure. Most of the online quotes from geico and progressive were probably $500-$800 for liability and comprehensive coverage. If you get collision and other coverage you could easily pay over $1000 a year.

It is things like bike age/model/cc. The riders location, riding/driving history, credit score, grades, other people on insurance, insuring bike or bike/car, primary transportation.

Comprehensive coverage will ding the you most. It's about $1000 above and beyond other stuff (I'd be paying about 1600 a year) here, but other places can be a LOT more.

Do you know how old your friend is, because im 17 and I have been really looking into getting that exact bike, but I am afraid that the insurance will be way to much on it

You have to go talk to an insurance agent. I will tell you that if you're financing the bike you'll need to get full coverage meaning you're vitually guaranteed to be paying upwards of $1500 a year.

If you're buying it outright you can choose the level of coverage you'll get and the prices vary greatly.

Like I said, go talk to an insurance agent, it's the only way to know for sure how much you'll be paying.
