Need opinion - $2000 too much for a 1987 Shadow VT700?

I'm not inclined to spend that much for something that is almost as old as I am, even if Kelly and her little blue book say I should.
Still, I happen to know that the owner is a gearhead with a garage full of toys that he probably pays more attention too than his wife
. Its got 17k miles and when I saw it and rode it, it confimed that the thing is in pristine condition. Which makes me consider getting it and adding it to my little stable as a possible daily commuter.
Do you guys think 2 grand is reasonable?
