I passed my motorcycle driving test

#1 Unread post by sunsetrider »

:D I went for my license today, I got up early and drove around the city for 3 hours practising. The actual test was only about a 15 minute drive around the downtown area of the city. Dispite missing a stop sign  the examiner said I did ok. I was so busy concentrating on my turn and checking to make sure there was no traffic coming that I didn't come to a complete stop. Other than that, the test went well. I guess everyone makes mistakes, but usually not such obvious ones during a road test. Oh well, lesson learned.

congrats!

and interesting...

i don't think DMV test involve actual street riding. i think they just make you go around this really small circle. amazing test to see if you can ride safely on the street.

anyway... missing a stop sign on car drivers lic test here is an auto failure IIRC.

I expected a fail, but he handed me the sheet when we got back to the exam office and told me I'd passed. I learned long ago not to argue with someone who gives me what I want. :D

Congrats and thank your lucky stars or whatever (yep, here too a missed stop would be an auto fail). Have fun and enjoy riding!

P.S. You should look up rapidblue in S'toon since he complains he has no one to ride with. Regina can't be that far off.
Ya right, there are only 2 kinds of bikes: It's a Ninja... look that one's a Harley... oh there's a Ninja... Harley...Ninja...

Kewl congrats. Is it a Canadian thing to have an actual on road riding test? I think that better judges your skill on a motorcycle versus the stupid parking lot course with the cones. Was the proctor following you on a bike or car?

Here in BC, Canada once you have your learners permit you must then take a "road skills" test in a parking area which entails starts, stops, driving around cones, etc. If you pass this test, you are allowed to drive a bike during daylight hours but without a passenger. Then, within a year you must take the driving test. You're fitted with a 2-way radio gizmo and a gov't testor follows behind you giving you instructions: turn, stop, change lanes, park, etc. Talk about pressure! I have my learners permit and begin the Motorcycle Rider Safety Course next weekend so I've got a lot of work (and hopefully some fun) ahead.

Like already mentioned, I've never known anyone to actually go test their skill out on the street. I mean, behind the DMV here, they have a small course, that's just marked off with white paint.
