Wearing a helmet with glasses

#1 Unread post by WARainMan »

This may seem like a silly question...

I was trying on helmets recently. I wear wire-framed glasses and I had a difficult time getting them on once the helmet was on my noggin. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wears glasses. Is the helmet too tight or do I need to get frames that are stiffer? And advice?

Grazie!

Well, I don't wear glasses everyday but I do wear my sunglasses (Oakley - with plastic thicker arms) with my full face helmet quite often. Some helmets are more comfortable and allow you to slip in the arms of your glasses and others aren't. Just keep on trying different ones with your glasses and you should find a comfy one. My sunglasses worked with a KBC helmet and HJC CL-14 helmet.

Speaking of which, the CL-14 I borrowed from Sev and he wears wire-frame glasses and he hasn't complained of any problems with his CL-14.

Yeah just keep on trying helmets until you find some that are comfortable with your glasses. Also the padding will flex a little more after you wear the helmet for a while so you'll have a little more room to fit your glasses.

I do wear glasses and have no problem with a Z1R helmet.

Advice? Don't forget to take your glasses off before trying to slide the helmet off.

I had a nice gouge up my forehead. My first motorcycle releated injury!

I wear glasses and have worn both a full face and 3/4 helmet, both worked well for me

Don't wear a helmet and the problem is solved.

Ha just kidding. You just gotta try different helmets or different glasses until they fit. I don't wear perscripshun glass but I wear sunglassed under my helmet. I pick shades with thin little bar thingies that go along the head and behind the ear and I've never had a problem. I have has some with bigger bar thingies that would not fit in there at all. Just gotta keep trying.

Glasses and full face are a pain, but doable.

when I put my glasses on I slide the arms in very carefully and gently and reach a finger in to lift the edge of the padding so the glasses don't get stuck on it. Then the glasses fit well and are comfortable. But if the arm of the glasses sits on the ridge of the padding inside, the glasses don't sit properly.

I wear a full face and glasses.

Inaddition to the post above about taking the glasses off 1st then after putting the helmet back on, then put the glasses on, there are the frames where the frames are designed to bend. Some just flex (mine) other you can twist into a knot.

The flex type do work for me, but I'd bring my glasses with me when you get a new pair. I had my glasses first so I wore my glasses to the place where I bought my helmet to verify all was well.

Having glasses is a good reason why not to buy a helmet online, there can be two different helmets of the same size but one works with your glasses and the other does not.

I wear a modular "flip face" helmet with either clear goggles or tinted depending on light conditions. My helmet is an off brand called Zeus and it is really comfortable. My goggles are like glasses, not the strap on type. I found that if you get the frames with softer, more flexible earpieces, it is much more comfy.

Hope this helps.
