moisture in the engine ?????

Had to put the bike in to the mechanics for a new clutch and he said he found
moisture in the engine and he would put a new water seal in is this bloke for real or what

I would want to know how he came to this conclusion. I think think moisure in the engine is not a totally silly thing to report, and it could be very damaging to the engine and it's oil. But there are several sources for moisture, so I'd want to know where he thinks it is coming from and why. If this is an air cooled bike, it wouldn't come form the cooling system, since it is air cooled. Moisture can come from a bike sitting to long, and conensation building up. If you start your bike in the cold and not allow it to fully warm up (by riding it for a bit) condesation will build up too. Make sure he can explain the source of moisture.

we are just getting over winter here and I try to make sure I warm the bike up every morning, the bike is liquid cooled but I havent noticed the fluid levels change

I would expect a easy to understand explaination from your mechaninc before you should let him charge you a boat load of labor. Asking him to explain how the moisture got into the system and him explaining also why the levels wouldn't change if it is leaking from your cooling system would be my requirement. If the moisture is from running the bike for too short of a time in the cold and shutting it down not fully warmed up (you must ride the bike for 15 to 20 minutes to really and fully warm up all the bit), an oil change and habit changes should fix that issue. If it is getting warmer anyway I'd really want proof before I'd pay. Good luck

What type of bike do you have? Is it air cooled or water cooled? I now see your said it's water cooled.

If you have a Honda CX500/650, Custom or Silverwing you may be in for a very painfull repair. I'm living it now.
