Stalling When Pulling In Clutch at Slowdown

I just bought a Vulcan900 a few weeks ago and I'm noticing that the bike stalls every once in a while when I'm coming to a stop and pulling in the clutch. I've raised my idle a tad and also changed the settings on my pots in the Fi2000. Imoved the green pot up from 4 to 5...the yellow from 2 to 2 1/2...and the red from 0 to 1/2. The bike is running a lot smoother and no more backfiring because of those new adjustments but the damn thing still stalls out every once in a while when I pull the clutch in at a slow stop! >:( Any ideas on how to fix this frustrating problem?

Are you sure your clutch lever is disengaging the clutch fully? Might check the cable to see if an adjustment is needed.

You might have hit it on the head! I just went out to check the play and I have NONE! I'm gonna adjust it later on to about 2mm and that may be the fix! I'm hearing so many different things that may be wrong: The ECU, the clutch switch, the fuel modulator,etc... I'm hoping it's the adjustment and then all will be fine :D

..Oh BTW...didn't have my glasses on when I first checked...just did a 2 second check as I had to leave...the clutch lever actually had almost 6mm of play!!! That makes even more sense as that means the clutch wasn't becoming fully engaged. I made the adjustment to 2mm and lowered my green pot back to 4 1/2. I can't take it out right now to check the adjustments as Hurricane Enrique is working it's way out my way and it's pouring right now. Lot's of power outages already and tree limbs all over the place. It's gonna be nice tomorrow so I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed that this is the fix....like I said before, I hate taking the bike about 1 hour away from my house and having to taxi back home and wait for them to find the prob only to taxi back out there in between work and getting home in time for my 2 boys when they get home from school! The shop is telling me that they are booked for the next month on Saturdays so this makes it much harder for me.

In view of the bad weather why not just test the clutch lever play in the garage or carport or whatever. Start the bike and put in gear. With the lever all the way back to the grip there should be no movement of the bike. I don't know the specs on your bike as far as lever free play.

Great News Guys!!
Between:
1. Changing the settings on the fuel modulator
2. Raising my idle a tad
3. Adjusting the clutch lever to 2mm'sThe bike is running great!
Had it out all day today and it seems my backfiring and stalling problems have been rectified! The bike didn't miss a freakin' beat and the Cobra's sound awsome. This is what it's all about! Nothing like the satisfaction of figuring the problem out for yourself. My new problem is a little squeak in the rear brakes but I can deal with that till I take it in for my 600 mile service which should be in about 2 weeks. What a wonderful day of riding it was and thanks for the concern with this problem. I think my wife is gonna set some luvvin' 2nite 4 shure! I've been complaining to her about this problem for a week now and nothing like the look of content on her face when I told her she won't have to hear me crying about the bike................for a while..............
