Hello all I am 41 and new to motorcycling. I Live just north of Toronto, Canada and have just taken my motorcycle safety course. I am looking forward to buying my first bike. Can anyone recommend a good used first street bike. I am leaning towards a cruiser style of bike. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

anyway for cruisers... even up to 1100cc is not bad for newbies. it's still within the newbie-friendly power range.
check out the sticky post on the new rider forum as well.
good luck!

Welcome. Good luck in finding your bike of choice. There are usually as many opinions as there are bikes. My recommendation would be to find something that you are comfortable with size-wise (height, weight) and choose accordingly. Likely your first bike won't be your last.

welcoome,
I'm 43 and have had mky bike only since dec 2005 (but really started riding in feb 2006)
I do a honda shadow 1100, smooth easy ride big enough for a tall guy like me (6'6") easy to mod, yet light enough to handle and darn near bullit proof.

Hi Allan. I started riding last year at 42. I have a Suzuki Intruder 800 which I find is a great starter bike. If you can handle the weight, you could probably go with something bigger as well.
I recommend taking the MSF course!

Take your time finding the right ride. Do a lot of on-line searches, both on manufacturers and for-sale sites. Hit a few dealerships and sit on every bike that tickles your pickle. My guess would be that you have a couple of months to ride this year at best so don't rush yourself. I too started relatively late in life with this new passion and I hope you end up as happy about it as I am. I am 38 and bought my first bike, a 2004 Yamaha Warrior, last spring. I cannot fathom owning anything else for many years to come.

Welcome to the board, Allan. I am just south east of you, in Bowmanville. Where bouts are you north of T.O.?
There is a 2001 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Classic for sale here in town. I had one. I enjoyed it. I don't know what the seller is asking. I could stop in for you. As I ride or drive by it every day. It has been sitting there for a while now. Chance of being able to pick it up for a decent price.
Cheers!
